Frequently Asked Questions
Are evening or weekend appointments available?
Absolutely. We offer therapy and neurofeedback Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 8 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM. Virtual sessions are also available, which can save travel time during busy weekdays.
Are sessions covered by my insurance?
Many insurance providers cover psychological services in part or in full. Some government and agency plans reimburse up to 80% of fees, up to a yearly limit. We recommend checking with your insurance company to confirm coverage before starting therapy.
You will receive a receipt on the day of your appointment, which you can submit to your provider for reimbursement. While therapy costs are tax-free, sessions must be paid in full on the day of service. Optimale does manage direct reimbursement only for Veterans Affairs Canada, the Canadian Armed Forces, the Department of National Defence, Public Safety Canada, and the RCMP.
Can therapy costs be claimed on my tax return?
Yes. Any portion of your therapy fees not covered by insurance can typically be claimed as a medical expense on your tax return. Please note that administrative fees for missed or late-cancelled sessions cannot be claimed.
When can I expect my first appointment?
You can schedule a call through the Jane app to discuss your needs and make sure the services offered are a good fit. Because demand is high, we sometimes use a waitlist. In most cases, clients are seen within six weeks.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No. You do not need a referral to book a therapy appointment at Optimale – Wellness Centre. However, some insurance providers may require a doctor’s note for reimbursement.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. To respect the time of both our clients and therapists, we ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer the time to someone else waiting for care. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice or missed appointments will be charged the full session fee. Fees are charged automatically to the card on file. We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we’re open to reviewing individual circumstances. You can cancel or reschedule through your Jane account or by emailing us at admin@optimale.ca.
